>>Jerez-Texas on tour again
This spring, after a long period of time without playing “at home”, Jerez-Texas played two concerts in Valencia in some very interesting settings – the hall at the Museo del Carmen and also at the Patio de la Beneficiencia.
It was an incredible opportunity for the Valencian public (more than 1,500 people attended) to see the valencian band playing at their best.
Jerez-Texas prepare themselves now for an intense tour in September. The group have been chosen by the Insituto Cervantes to carry out an Asian tour that will cover Mumbai, New Delhi, Beijing, Shanghai and Tokyo..
06/09 - Mumbai (India) - Blue Frog
07/09 - New Delhi (India) - Centro Cervantes
09/09 - Tokyo (Japón) - Centro Cervantes
11/09 - Beijin (China) - Nine Gates Festival
13/09 - Shangai (China) - Centro Cervantes

>>In the Madrid Jazz festival line up
Another important date: Jerez-Texas will perform at the Madrid Jazz festival on the 20th October, with a concert in the mythical San Juan Evangelista.
The unmissable date where all the jazz groups will perform in the capital, hasn’t happened in 40 years.
The crisis is really hitting hard for musicians.
But it’s best to remember the good summer times. You will soon be able to enjoy Jerez-Texas’ concert which took place at the Polisonic Festival in Gandía in August as it will be aired on José-Miguel López’s emblematic show “Discópolis” on Radio 3.
Make the most of it as it’s free! Jerez-Texas has made these songs available to download for free (right click/save link as):
Color Cafe / Paris sous la Pluie / Quan Somnies / Me Da lo Mismo / Americano en Motril / Cercanias
Over the past few months, Jerez-Texas have been lucky in being able to perform on some really amazing stages: Sagunto auditorium, grand theatre of Beauvais (France), Galapajazz Festival, Polisonic Festival, Olontia Jazz Festival...
A special mention must be made to the glass grottos of Molinos (Teruel). For the first time, Jerez-Texas performed inside a magnificent mineral grotto.
Bear in mind it was only 12 degrees and 90% humidity !

Tour in april
And earlier, the month of April was packed full of trips including the first tour of Galicia followed by a trip to Tunisia and Sudan.
Jerez-Texas performed a memorable concert in the medina in Tunisia, to an excited and eager audience.
The trip to Sudán also created unforgettable memories. An open air concert, under the light of the full moon in the garden of Khartoum’s National Museum. Another strong point was the incredible master class with students from the Music&Art University. All of this occurred while an extremely dry heat persisted...
The Press states...
Jerez-Texas’ concert in the Sala Clamores in Madrid did not go unnoticed. This was made proof by Chema García Martínez’s review in El País newspaper:
“Jerez-Texas’ music is a small miracle, or a big one, depending on how you see it. It’s the type of music you’d listen to all your life. It’s the feeling of being lifted away by Isabel’s sinuous voice, Matthieu’s velvet cello, Ricardo’s sol y sal guitar, Jesús’ gypsy-like percussions…Jerez-Texas’ music isn’t flamenco, or jazz, or even flamenco-jazz, but rather something else that is difficult to describe, as there are no words that successfully manage to describe a dream.”
Listen to the interview with Jerez-Texas on Radio Nacional de España, Radio 1 on the programme “El Ojo Crítico” (The Critical Eye).

The music group will be in Galicia in April for a string of 5 concerts, and will then fly to Tunisia and Sudan before returning for another big date in the auditorium of Sagunto in May.
Jerez-Texas Live in Botanic Gardens 2009
Jerez-Texas has concluded a string of concerts in 2009 with two electric dates in Valencia: two dates with a full house in the pretty Jardín Botánico (Botanic Garden) auditorium. Thank you to the ever so loyal Valencian audience! About 500 people attended these concerts standing and many fans were not even able to get in. Just as well Jerez-Texas will be in Valencia again in the Centro Cultural Octubre on the 21st of February!

A great idea for a New Year’s gift!
With the album SUN, Jerez-Texas continues in its search for new musical territory on the border of flamenco.
Definitely more of a jazz sound, with David Pastor’s trumpet as an invitation to luxury, Sun offers a relaxing invasion of a velvety ambience with this lounge music.
The third album does not however mark an abrupt break in the sound of Jerez-Texas. The original sound of the group is centered more than ever on the trio of flamencan guitar-cello-drums, leaving room for the singer Isabel Julve. Thanks to the sensual songs and daring instrumentals in Sun, Jerez-Texas confirms its ability to create an ambience with rich and varied sounds.
After Saó (2005) and Patchwork (2007), Sun reaches a new stage in the definition of a musical universe that continues to surprise people by its creativity. The first few comments made in the press are very appreciative:
“Again what we find is the hard work of three incredible musicians with a gift to combine their wonderful instruments. (…) this music is free from getting too close or too distant from stereotypes, and the false ease of creating melodies that envelop you.” - B! Ritmos
“I would say that Sun is without a doubt the best of all their records, (…) the trio presents the same fusion of flamenco, jazz, and refined music, achieving an integration of all three languages which is admirable, being both natural and inspired. Precious.” - Acidjazzhispano.com
“A solar and cheerful album, revitalising and festive (....)One of the best Mediterranean musical discoveries of the past few years!” - Babelmed.net
Enjoy now four new songs recorded live this summer during the festival Jazz San Javier.
A good way to discover songs from the new album SUN, performed on stage in trio and in quintet with Isabel Julve and trompetist David Pastor.
We are also pleased to announce new tour dates that you can see there for this winter.
Be happy !
Jerez-Texas is working hard : the new album will be available in a few weeks. Recorded in a sauna room (!) lost in mountains near Benicassim, this new opus will be a great ocasion to introduce a wonderful jazz singer, Arantxa Dominguez. Invited by Jerez-Texas as lead singer, she is already considered gem of Levant. Come back soon to listen to new songs here !
The
summer and all its numerous happenings – and as many successes –
has established Jerez-Texas’ reputation, as it delivered on stage its
new album ‘Patchwork’. The climax of
the summer tour was the Feria de Julio de Valencia concert.
The trio, accompanied by the four singers performing in Patchwork,
has confirmed its talent on stage. Musicians at the top of their form, a faultless
teamwork, daring improvisations: no doubt the evening left a wonderful memory
with the many music lovers who had the chance to attend.
This top-flight performance has been hailed by Emilio Garrido
(Radio3) as “one of the two best concerts
of the summer 2007 in Spain”.
Photos of this event will be posted soon on www.jereztexas.com.
With its new show running so well, the autumn dates will allow Jerez-Texas
to shine again..
